A tunnel was under construction nearby, which runs underneath the hospital and parking lot, according to the local news agency. It is believed that the tunnel had partially collapsed, which resulted in the formation of the sinkhole.
The medical facility had recently opened up the parking lot to accommodate more vehicles.
Last week, a mammoth 300-foot sinkhole opened up in farmland in the state of Puebla, Mexico. The hole has rapidly expanded after its first appearance last week. It is filled with groundwater.
The crater was created in a town named Santa Maria Zacatepec that is near Mexico City. It is now threatening to swallow all the houses that are located in the area.
The state governor, Miguel Barbosa, said that this is a “matter of enormous risk”, Newsweek reported Various investigators gathered around the area to see the cause behind this rather alarming development.
